The cheerful people were gathered near the Pura Desa Bale Agung Kuta, while the gamelan orchestra played a beautiful melody cheers up the afternoon at the Kuta Art and Culture Festival held at March 25th 2009. According to the official, Mr. Agung Raka, the Kuta Art and Culture Festival was the first of its kind held in Kuta Bali.
This year theme of the Kuta Art and Culture Festival is "Abhiseka Ksatria Utama", which literally means eliminating / defeating the egoism inside ourselves, to become a better person for a better future. There were at least 13 Banjar ( an egalitarian group that make decisions based upon consensus, ensuring that village life proceeds smoothly and free of conflicts ) participated in the Kuta Art and Cultural Event, where each of the Banjar sent 1 "ogoh-ogoh" ( a huge doll symbolizing evil spirits, made from bamboo and sack paper ) as their representative.
The Kuta Art and Cultural Festival was started at 5 pm (local time), toned up by the barongsai dance for one and half hour, then followed by the parade of the ogoh-ogoh. The festival which was aimed to support the Bali tourism promotion this year is unique and special considered that the other parts and regions of Bali did not held the same festival due to the general election which will be held this April.
